The University of Pécs Medical School’s brick wall on Kürt street has been demolished, which indicates that beside the new modern wing of the School a new public park is under construction and will be available for everyone in Pécs in the near future – says pecsma.hu.
Exactly two years ago, on 10 November 2017, a contract was signed at the University of Pécs Medical School, which resulted in the launch of the biggest university development recently: the construction of a new theoretical building for the Medical School. The 10.5 billion HUF investment achieved by the previous city leadership stands out among the University of Pécs developments in the Modern Cities Program as the theoretical block of the Medical School will expand with a huge wing of more than 11,000 square meters where four departments can move in next year.
The new building will have 4 lecture halls and 34 seminar rooms, and new diagnostic and therapeutic tools are going to be bought for a total of more than 1.5 billion HUF.
The park in the School’s territory will be renewed on 20.000 square meters, which will be opened towards the city, the residents of Pécs. Perhaps not many people would think but the park to be renewed at the Medical School is about 10.000 square meters and soon the residents of Pécs will be able to stroll among new plants and benches in the area - including smart benches in the park - on the new pedestrian paths, which will also be renovated.
Further good news is that the existing parking problems around the campus are likely to be resolved - or at least reduced – due to the investment because 254 new parking spaces will be established near the new wing and the park.
