Professor László Mangel received the Krompecher Award

Professor László Mangel, director of the Department of Oncotherapy received the Krompecher Award. The award was founded by the Hungarian Cancer Society (MOT) and was handed over on 28 November at the 33rd congress of the MOT.

The Society acknowledges Professor Mangel’s professional and organizational activities to improve oncological patient care. There is a well-equipped oncology centre in Pécs, and thanks to his personal activity, a new, up-to-date inpatient department with an outpatient department and advanced radiotherapy equipment has been established. This has enabled the close cooperation of pharmaceutical and radiotherapy care.

He has developed the two-step oncoteam system, which ensures the professional, quality assurance and legal background for medical decisions. Personnel (doctor, pharmacist, assistant, nurse, physicist, psychologist, administrative staff, palliative team) are available to perform the tasks, and in addition to patient care, they also help the high level Hungarian, German and English medical training, pharmacist and specialist training and the scientific work. In accordance with his extensive social responsibilities, the professor has made a major contribution to the development of Hungarian oncology nationwide.
